Movies in the Park

I was just thinking back to the days when my husband and I were dating in college. We both had apartments full of rommmates and none of them were dating. We didn't think they'd appreciate our lovey-dovey-ness, so the park became our place. Often, after dark, we would pack up the laptop, a DVD, a blanket, and a few snacks and head to the park.

This is us...except, we were in a park, not a meadow.
And we didn't have a logo in front of our faces. :)

Oh, and my husband is WAY better looking!

Okay, let's be honest here...movies in the park could be translated into makeout in the park. Perhaps you can relate? Now, I'm sitting here wondering,

"WHAT HAPPENED to those days? Did we grow out of that? Are we too old now?"

It's not like it's hard to do or expensive...nor does it require much planning. (Okay, if you have kids, your babysitter might think it a little weird that they're being paid while you two go to the park, of all places. And your kids might hate you for going to the park without them....but, someday they'll understand.)

I see no reason why we can't still do this. So, this will be our next date night.

How about you? Is there something you did in your dating days that you wish you still did?

What Rocksee said. We used to go on long drives and day trips just for fun. Another one of my favorites were the unplanned fun dates. You know, just hanging out without a plan but having a blast? Now those times require a babysitter. lol

i thought my boyfriend (now husband) really enjoyed the chickflicks & sex in the city dvd's i would have us watch all the time. turns out he was just doing the typical boyfriend thing. now we have to split our movie viewing fairly...boy movie, girl movie. i miss just watching all my fav movies without the pressure of knowing the next movie we had to watch was gonna be something with sly stallone or bruce willis. good grief! we also used to go on afternoon drives more often but now the weekends are more focused on "what do we need to get done around the house-projects". too bad.

I MISS hugging, holding hands, kissing, never being more than 2 inches apart at any time. My husband of 12 years likes to show his love for me by DOING things for me. He loves to clean out my car, keep the yard well manicured, do fun things w/ the kids, etc. BUT I am a physical affection girl and that is what I NEED.

Rocksee & Shari-- we used to, too! We'd just drive or sit in the car and talk...for a LONG time. I miss that.
OMG--yes, i hate that we spend our time together doing projects too...it's hard to set aside that time for JUST US and nothing else. Luckily, we have date nights to compensate.
Cook Family--I miss kissing, too. like, newlywed type kissing..every second you get a chance. But, I do like having things around the house done. Hmm...where's the balance?!

This is such a fun idea. I think I might be scheduling a movie in the park really soon...

I am going to do this with my hubby, but we might do it in the back yard while the kids are sleeping no babysitter needed

Our first kiss was at the park! Then several of our dates where at the park! We worked in the same town but lived in opposite directions so it was the only place we had to be together without travel time. Then he proposed at the park! We still go there and enjoy being kids together, watching movies under the stars, and just being outside!

My husband and I would meet for picnics in the park back in the dating/college days. It was so much fun! Like you, I'm not sure why we don't picnic in the park anymore.....I will add this to my to-do list :)

Totally need to get a laptop to make this one work. My hubby and I would do marshmellow roasts, although I hate smelling like flowers, it's very romantic. That's what we were doing when he proposed :) sigh

We used to lay in bed all day everyday...sigh...now we're married, bills have to be paid and the baby needs to be cared for :P We don't get to be bums anymore but we still love our life.

We actually have done the Movie in the Park thing recently. Its one my favorite date nights :)

I know I'm a newlywed but...I, like most of you, miss not having anything to do. When every night was just us hanging out. Like Jodi and Aaron, we worked close but lived far apart. We used to meet at this park at the same bench every day! Thats where we did all our talking and getting to know each other. There were no dishes or laundry to do. Now there is so much that has to be done. Busy, busy! We still kiss all the time and hold hands while we walk. I hope that never stops! I think that date nights are the best way to hang on to the much needed just us time. We also work together on the house work and projects TOGETHER, so it gets done faster. Thus, leaving us with more play time. We also kinda have a system where things around the house get done during the week so that our weekends are free!! Wow...long comment sorry..

Movies in the Park always remind me of The Wedding Planner. We have that out DC-way, too, although the city tried to give it up this summer. Boo on them! Dropping by form SITS...TGIF!

I just added your button to my site...this is such a great site!
My husband and I were in a long distance relationship for 4 years (he was in the Marine Corps and was in Iraq twice) I miss our letters to each other...there's something about writing a letter that makes you express your true feelings....I still have them all!

I miss our love letters. We used to write each other all the time, and switch notes in between classes. It's always fun to get a surprise love letter in a drawer. I need to do that again- I'm sure he'd reciprocate. :)
